Definition : Video cameras attached (either directly or by means of an adapter) to a flexible or rigid endoscope. These cameras typically consist of a charge-coupled device (CCD). Endoscopic video cameras are used for picture documentation of the endoscopic findings or for instantaneous display to make possible the performance of real-time surgical procedures through the endoscope.
