Needles, Suture, Dental

Definition : Suture needles designed with appropriate shape and size to thread sutures through the oral tissues, including tough tissues (e.g., ligaments) around the teeth, to close surgical or traumatic wounds. These devices typically consist of high-quality stainless steel, curved or, less frequently, straight needles with an eye in one extreme for insertion of the suture and a sharp tip at the other end. Dental suture needles usually have opposite cutting edges that cut tissue (i.e., cutting needles).
