Orthoses, Upper Limb, Arm

Definition : Upper-limb orthoses designed for external modification of the structural and/or functional characteristics of the arm, providing immobilization and/or support. These orthoses consist of rigid or semi-rigid malleable metal (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel) structures (e.g., supports, immobilizers) that provide assistance during use of the arm. Arm orthoses are intended mainly for rehabilitation after injuries or trauma (e.g., fractures).
