Definition : Refrigerators with a front-opening (upright) configuration designed for storage of drugs, pharmacy preparations, and other pharmaceutical products (e.g., live virus vaccines) typically at temperatures between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius (35 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit). These refrigerators typically consist of a vertical chamber made with a corrosion-resistant (typically stainless steel) interior, minimizing the risk of adulteration, contamination, and/or corrosion of contents; internal shelving appropriate for storage, easy location, and handling of pharmaceutical product containers; a compressor, condenser, evaporator, tubing, sensors, controls, monitors, a temperature recording chart, and alarms for dependable long-term storage following pharmacy standards.
