Surgical Retractor Kits, Spine, Cervical

Definition : Spine surgery retractor kits designed for use during procedures involving the cervical spine (i.e., cervical vertebrae) segments. These kits typically consist of a collection of devices, instruments, and supplies that are combined to temporarily separate and retain tissue or other anatomical parts, exposing and/or giving access to the cervical spine without manual support once they are set (i.e., self-retained). The retractor kits frequently include longitudinal and transverse retractor frames, one or more sets of detachable (e.g., solid and toothed) blades, a ratchet mechanism, and fixation posts or screws. Cervical spine retractor kits provide hands-free assistance to the surgeon during procedures such as spinal fusion and/or discectomy.
