Racks, Sterilizing Units

Definition : Racks designed for the temporary storage of devices and/or other products during a sterilization process. These racks usually consist of a heavy-duty metal structure (typically stainless steel) with several shelves that is capable of withstanding high temperature and humidity and/or the chemical parameters that characterize many sterilization procedures. Sterilizing unit racks are used to hold the devices undergoing sterilization (e.g., surgical instruments) in appropriate conditions; they are usually attached inside the unit during sterilizing processes performed in a healthcare facility.
