Software, Workstation Management, Healthcare, Medical Diagnostic Kiosk

Definition : Software designed to operate healthcare workstations that are placed in medical diagnostic kiosks, control/monitor a limited number of their functions, and/or process data and images obtained during a particular diagnostic procedure. This software usually interacts with integral devices used in the procedure, such as measuring instruments and monitors. It may also perform a variety of algorithms to facilitate the operation and analysis of the measurements to facilitate an appropriate diagnosis. Diagnostic kiosk workstation management software is intended to work only with one or a few models of workstations and related devices, usually supplied by the same manufacturer. This facilitates the processing and/or sending of data from the kiosk workstation to and from hospital information systems. The software is not usually available separately from the kiosk workstation but may be updated (i.e., through the release of modified versions) during the life of the equipment. Dedicated diagnostic kiosk workstation management software may be intended for self-operated and/or staff-operated workstations as well as for specific diagnosis.
