Definition : Valvuloplasty cardiac catheters designed for use in procedures such as nonsurgical dilation of stenotic mitral valves. These catheters are typically constructed with a coaxial double-lumen tube with a manually controlled inflatable barrel-like (typically 22 to 26 mm circular section diameter) balloon in their distal tip; the second lumen is usually used for a guide wire and/or for pressure measurement.
